Kristine Torske, DVM, DVSc

Veterinarian

Dr Torske graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon. After graduating with her DVM, she completed a 1 year internship in Large Animal Medicine, Surgery and Theriogenology at the Atlantic Veterinary College in Prince Edward Island. Following 2 years of mixed animal practice in Alberta and Manitoba, she moved to Guelph to do a residency in veterinary anesthesiology at the Ontario Veterinary College. She did a 3 year clinical residency and completed a Doctor of Veterinary Science degree, with her area of research focusing on epidural analgesia in dogs. She has practiced in Manitoba since then, doing general small animal practice as well as pursuing her interest in veterinary anesthesia through referral anesthesia, consulting and teaching. One of the things that she loves most about specializing in anesthesia is that she gets to work with all species of animals. She currently is the Manitoba representative on the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association council. In her spare time, she enjoys cross country skiing, hiking, gardening, horse back riding and spending time with her family. She and her husband have 2 adult children, 2 Australian shepherds, 4 cats and 4 horses.

Cathy, RVT

RVT / Practice Manager

Cathy is an experienced Registered Veterinary Technologist who graduated from Red River College Animal Health Technology program in 1996. She may be a familiar face to some of you as she previously worked at the Manitoba Animal Eye Clinic with Dr. Grahn for 10 years until he retired. Cathy enjoys everything about ophthalmology, from educating clients to assisting in surgery. She also makes sure no patient leaves without receiving a cookie or two…because clinic calories don’t count! Cathy has 5 cats, one who is visually impaired, 4 kids and a husband. When she’s not at work she enjoys reading a good book and spending time at the cabin with her family.

Sydney, RVT

RVT

Sydney is an experienced Registered Veterinary Technologist who has worked in emergency medicine until starting at True North Veterinary Eye Care. She graduated from the Red River Animal Health Technology program in 2017. Sydney enjoys the clients and most of all, the patients we get to see daily here! She loves the rewarding work of helping with complicated cases and watching them progress and hopefully improve. She also really enjoys surgery days! When not at work Sydney enjoys camping, boating, fishing, gardening and swimming with her family! She can often be found outside, enjoying nature with her husband and their 2 large breed dogs Ammo and Chief.

Shey, RVT

RVT

Shey graduated from the Red River College Animal Health Technology Program in 2015 and has been working in small animal practice ever since. Shey has a special interest in anesthesia and analgesia and is committed to ensuring your pet experiences a smooth, pain free procedure and recovery. Shey is happy to learn anything veterinary medicine related and looks forward to helping provide specialized ophthalmology care to the pets of Manitoba and beyond. Outside of work, Shey loves to spend time being outdoors, gardening, reading or relaxing with her cats Thai and Maui.

Jade, VA / CSR

VA/ CSR

Jade is our Veterinary Assistant (VA) and Customer Service Representative (CSR) combined into one! She is the friendly face you will see when you come into the clinic and often the voice on the other end of the phone when you call! Jade has been working in veterinary medicine as a VA / CSR for many years, before coming to True North Veterinary Eye Care. She loves to chat with clients and learn about their pets, and she always makes sure all the fur babies get some love and snacks while waiting. Jade has a special place in her heart for exotic animals. She has owned rats and hedgehogs for many years. When she is not at work she enjoys going on walks, painting and playing video games with friends. She also loves spending time with her cats, Pickles (included in photo), Marbles and Roxy.
