What would a Vet-to-Vet consult include?

A Vet-To-Vet consult allows a referring Doctor to submit a case for a patient with an ocular concern who may be cost conscious, travel restricted or otherwise unable to pursue an in-person exam/consult with the Specialist.

In order to pursue a Vet-To-Vet consult, we would require the referring Doctor to including photos, a detailed history and any other relevant medical history to our Ophthalmologist. She will review the images and detailed history and consult on the case, including a recommendation on how to medically manage/treat, suggest additional work up/diagnostics and rechecking guidelines.

To be able to appropriately review and advise on a Vet-To-Vet consult, we will require focused photos (to the best of your ability) with good lighting (a handheld ophthalmoscope provides appropriate light), the diagnostic testing values acquired, medications tried and the results noted, and any other medical history you feel may be insightful to the Specialist.

While these consultations do not replace a physical exam with the ophthalmologist, they do provide valuable insight and opportunity for collaboration or a second opinion.
